Reliability News:

AP/Yahoo 2010-10-28. TOKYO – Nissan is recalling 2.14 million vehicles worldwide including the popular March and Mycra (or "Micra") subcompacts for an ignition problem that may stall the engine — its third-largest recall ever. No accidents have been reported that are suspected of being caused by the defect, according to Yokohama-based Nissan Motor Co.

- Huyndai will recall some 139,500 Sonata sedans sold in the United States, due to problems with the steering wheel that could cause a loss or reduction of control. No accidents or injuries occurred as a result of improper assembly or loose steering connections, Hyundai said in an email statement. In February, Sonata, underwent the first recall this year that affected 47,000 units in South Korea and the United States due to front door lock faults (Reuters 2010-09-27).

- Toyota: owners have filed at least 89 class-action lawsuits that could cost the Japanese auto giant $3 billion or more . They claim that massive safety recalls are causing the value of their vehicles to plummet. Toyota problems partly due to functional failures in electronics, partly mechanical sticking of pedals caused by wearout or sliding floor mats (Associated Press).

- Baby slings: Associated Press Writer Jennifer C. Kerr (2010-03-12).  Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said it has investigated at least 13 deaths associated with sling-style infant carriers over the last 20 years, including three deaths last year. One other case involving a fatality is still being investigated. Twelve of the deaths involved babies younger than four months of age, the agency said. The popular "SlingRider" by Infantino has been singled out. See more (link collection) or go directly to CPSC site.
